It's Pretty Purple Flower Time Again

It doesn't seem like a year has passed since our Pretty Purple Bush flowered, does it? But it has to be, because the PPB is in flower again.

We found out it is called Prostanthera Ovalifolia, or Native Mint Bush. The variegated leaves have a fresh almost minty scent, particularly if lightly crushed.
The scent is particularly noticeable at present because it's raining, the moist shrub smells heavenly.....and it is so very pretty.

The quilting on my black and white and lime green and orange quilt is all done and it's up to having its binding sewn down on the back. Today is cloudy and dull so it's not ideal light for sewing black fabric with black thread, and the binding is a black and white print with lots of black. But it will get finished, and when it is done there will be pics. After five years, finished will be a good feeling!

Am I alone in this, or do other women find the current shaven head look on men silly? Yes fellers, we know some of you lose your hair early and some later in life. It's not the end of the world. Shaving off what remains will not make you look fabulous. And as for the shiny polished look......erk, what a turn-off. There is an ad on TV here for sunglasses which features a bald bloke with his sunnies pushed up to the top of his shiny head, and frankly I think he looks a bit ridiculous.

But perhaps some women like that look, so who am I to say don't do it? The world would be a dull place if we all liked the same things.

Since moving here we have been amused by those folk who will not Cross The River if they can avoid it. Like many other Australian country towns this one grew around a river crossing, so the western and southern suburbs of the town are on one side of the river, eastern and northern on the other. We live on the northern edge of town and Crossing The River doesn't bother us, but we are tickled by those who don't like doing so. "Oh no", they say in a hushed voice, "I only shop in south, or west, I don't Cross The River". As a child here I lived in north, my grandparents lived in west, my primary (elementary) school was in east, high school was in south, so we crossed the river regularly and thought nothing of it. As the town has grown and there are shops and schools in all areas, one can mostly stay in one's own suburb if one doesn't wish to venture too far.....although occasionally one needs to visit a particular shop, or consult with a professional person, on the other side of the river. For choir practice on Monday nights I must Cross The River, so I feel as though I must be undertaking a great adventure when I do.

Definitely something to keep in mind next time one of us receives a compliment on our shapely legs, which we do regularly, of course.
