......and it will rain again soon, judging by the weather radar. It's been a long time since I have driven in such heavy rain as I did on Thursday night coming home from choir, the closer I came to home the heavier was the rain and wind; Kevin was drenched running from the house to the garage, and we were both drenched getting inside. Our garage is under the house roof but doesn't have an entrance inside the house which is normally not a problem, but it was that night.
The drought has broken in our backyard, for sure, and it's now raining steadily again.
Two more houses made this week, bring the total to 55. Six to go.
Trimming of the autumn blocks has not yet happened. It will. Hand piecing a panel for the back of the tumbler quilt is done, now some machine work remains. I have no idea about backing fabric; there is one possibility (which may be too busy) in my stash, and my favourite shop doesn't have anything which floats my boat either. There is another quilt shop here but I seldom go in as the owner is a bit of an odd duck, although the fabric for the inner border was found there. However - there are quilt shops in Canberra, so perhaps the perfect fabric awaits down south.
A year ago we were also planning a trip to Canberra for the folk festival, but it wasn't to be. This time the trip will happen but the festival will not. Last year our musician son had a gig lined up which we would have been able to attend, but it, too, had to be cancelled almost at the last minute - we were really looking forward to that, as we have so few chances to hear him play these days. He is hoping to have one for us this time, so fingers crossed. At least we will be able to be in the same room as family instead of having to grin at each other on a computer screen.
Bianca and I are keeping each other company for a few days as Kevin has gone Down To The Coast to play in a lawn bowls competition. Last year his team made it through all their games to get to the state final, but then the world shut down and the final was postponed......and postponed again......now it is to happen over the next few days rain (probably), hail or shine. He will be back sometime on Wednesday, so it will be a quiet house until then; not that he is a raucously loud person at any time, but having one person away when there are only two of you anyway always makes for a quieter house. Bianca isn't much of a conversationalist unless it is getting near what she considers to be her dinner time.
Lately we have been noticing that trees are definitely getting ready for autumn. Those bright greens are fading, and trees which produce seeds are doing so. It will be cooler down south, autumn arrives earlier there - something to look forward to.

That last bit of gravy soaked up with bread is always delicious, don't you think? Even if it gets us kicked out of a polite dinner party......

We, too, are drenched with rain here in southwest Missouri. 6inches in 2 days has brought our fields into wet, mushy mud...and more is expected for the next 4 days. But we need it here so I'm not complaining!
